Exclusive Interview with Worldwide Alumni Representative of Vatel Group

Vatel-VEILLEUX-ElodieCould you introduce yourself as well as the Vatel Group?

My name is Elodie Veilleux and I’m the Worldwide Alumni Representative of Vatel Group.

Vatel, the 1st Worldwide Business School Group in Hospitality & Tourism Management, today has Schools in 20 countries in Europe, the Americas, Asia and Africa. No less than 7,000 students throughout the world take the same very internationally driven courses and enjoy a dynamic and priceless network of 25,000 Vatel alumni who work in the most prestigious hotels in the world.

Vatel Schools all focus on the right balance between academic and theoretical courses (Management, Marketing, Finances, RH, etc.) and practical application courses either in dedicated Vatel application facilities and/or in partner hotels.  Teaching is then completed with an international outreach through internships abroad as well as the Marco Polo exchange program where students have the possibility of spending their second year in another Group School.

While attending school, Vatel students prepare two certified degrees that are registered in the National Directory of Professional Certification (RNCP): the Bachelor’s Degree in International Hotel Management, a level II degree with three years of post high school studies and the Master’s Degree in International Hotel Management, a level I degree with five years of post high school studies.

Upon graduation, these alumni are known as “Vateliens” and are recruited for high responsibility jobs. They make up a dynamic and solid professional network throughout the entire world.

Amoung your Alumni how many became Managing Director of Hotels ?

80% of Vatel Alumni continue working for their entire careers in the hotel and tourist management fields. Their jobs include, amongst others, functions of General Manager of a hotel chain or individual hotel, Hotel Manager, Sales Manager, Marketing, Human Resources or Financial Manager, Public Relations or Special Events Manager, and many more.

If you’d like more information about this, just have a look at our “Success Story” section in the www.vatelulmuni.com Internet site: you’ll see some of our students and portraits of their many different kinds of success stories.

What are the countries where your students like to work at the end of the school ?

Our alumni work all over the world, on every continent and in nearly every country. This is the reason why we founded the “Vatel Alumni Clubs,” managed by an Ambassador that Vateliens themselves elect. These clubs bring together alumni who work in the same geographical area. Today there are ten of them. Soon to open will be the Marrakesh, Madrid and East Coast of the US Clubs.

Despite the economic crisis, how is the Tourism & Hospitality market doing?

Vateliens also bear witness to the fact that the International Hotel and Tourism Management sector is, and will remain, a field in which many jobs are being created, as well as one where each student can fulfill his or her ambitions with a career any place in the world in many different and diverse departments. The Tourism Management Industry has grown remarkably in the past twenty years and remains a sound long-term investment.

Figures speak for themselves: in 2012 international tourism increased by 4% to reach a record-breaking figure of 1,035 billion tourists. The World Tourist Organization is expecting this trend to continue in 2013.
